Service Description

Discover the fascinating world of sloths at Aviarios del Caribe, a dedicated center focused on the research, protection and rehabilitation of these unique animals of the Caribbean rainforest. The center also develops environmental education and awareness programs that promote respect for wildlife and the conservation of sloth species and their natural habitats. Upon arrival, visitors are welcomed by the center's staff and begin a guided experience with knowledgeable wildlife specialists. The visit starts with an introductory presentation about the natural history, ecology and evolution of sloths, providing a better understanding of their behavior, adaptations and important role in the ecosystem. The experience continues with a visit to the nursery, where young sloths are cared for. Here, visitors learn about their development, specialized care and the rehabilitation process used to support sloths that require assistance. The guides also explain some of the challenges sloths face in the wild and how responsible human interaction can contribute to their protection. Throughout the visit, you will gain a closer understanding of these remarkable animals, from their slow metabolism and unique adaptations to their relationship with the tropical forest. The experience offers an educational and respectful approach to wildlife, making it ideal for visitors interested in nature, conservation and Costa Rica's incredible biodiversity. The visit concludes with time to explore the souvenir shop, featuring sloth-themed products that help support the center's conservation and rehabilitation programs. Important: The canoe portion of the experience is subject to weather and water conditions on the day of the tour. The tour includes: round-trip transportation, bilingual guide and entrance to the sloth rescue center. What to bring: comfortable clothing, suitable footwear, insect repellent, sunscreen, camera and original passport. A passport may be requested at a police checkpoint along the route. Duration: approximately 3–4 hours, including transportation from pickup to return. Conditions: minimum of 2 people per reservation. Closed: Mondays.
